Ask Fee-Lix

Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 September 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Ask Fee-Lix, a software service trading name of J-Benn Finance Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 10959447, whose registered office is at Office 10 Josephs Barn, Woodend Farm, Hatfield Road, Witham, Essex, England, CM8 1EH.

By creating an account, starting a free trial, or otherwise using Ask Fee-Lix (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and the accountancy practice or organisation you represent (the "Customer", "you"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Ask Fee-Lix is — and isn't

Ask Fee-Lix is an AI-powered pricing decision-support tool for UK accountancy practices. It generates fee recommendations by combining the information you give it about a client or piece of work with UK market pricing data and, where you choose to provide them, your own firm's rate cards, pricing matrices, or previous proposals.

Ask Fee-Lix is a decision-support tool, not a substitute for professional judgement. It does not provide financial, legal, tax, or professional advice, and its output is generated by an artificial intelligence model that can be incorrect, incomplete, or out of date. You remain solely responsible for every pricing decision, proposal, or fee you issue to your own clients. We accept no liability for losses arising from fees set, quoted, or agreed based on Ask Fee-Lix's output.

2. Eligibility and accounts

The Service is intended for use by accountancy and financial practices acting in the course of business, not by consumers. You must provide accurate information when creating an account, and you are responsible for activity that takes place under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. The person who creates a practice's account (the "Owner") may invite colleagues as additional users, subject to the seat limits of the applicable plan, and is responsible for those users' use of the Service.

3. Plans, trials, and billing

Ask Fee-Lix is offered on a free trial followed by paid subscription plans (currently Essential and Plus), each with a monthly allowance of AI responses and a maximum number of users, as described on our pricing page. A custom plan is available on request for practices with different needs.

  • Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance, in GBP, plus VAT where applicable, and are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel or change plans at any time from within the Service; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide refunds for partial periods except where required by law.
  • If a payment fails, we (via Stripe) will attempt to collect payment again; we may suspend or downgrade access to the Service if payment is not successfully collected.
  • We may change our plans and pricing from time to time. We will give existing subscribers reasonable notice of any price increase before it applies to them.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of any files, rate cards, pricing matrices, proposals, and other material you upload ("Your Content"), and of the conversations you have with Ask Fee-Lix. You grant us a licence to host, process, and use Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service to you — including processing it through the third-party AI and infrastructure providers described in our Privacy Policy — and not otherwise to share it outside your own practice.

You are responsible for making sure you have the right to upload any material you provide, and for not including any client personal data in Your Content beyond what is reasonably necessary for the pricing scenario you are describing.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes anyone else's rights;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract the underlying models, prompts, or source code of the Service;
  • attempt to circumvent usage limits, security controls, or access restrictions;
  • upload malicious files, or content you do not have the right to share; or
  • use the Service to build a competing product.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with notice where reasonably practicable.

6. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, templates, and the underlying methodology (excluding Your Content and the underlying third-party AI models we use), is owned by or licensed to us. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that intellectual property to you, beyond the right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we may carry out maintenance or make changes to the Service (including its features and templates) from time to time.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties, and our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any pricing, fee, or business decision you make based on Ask Fee-Lix's output. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, or terminate the Service generally with reasonable notice. On termination, your right to access the Service ends; we will handle any data we hold about you in line with our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or for legal reasons. We will post the updated Terms here with a new "last updated" date, and where changes are material we will make reasonable efforts to notify active subscribers.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them or the Service.
